Nasty WoMen Art Exhibition
We, members of Together We Will Northern Arizona, are the Flagstaff sisters of the Nasty Women Exhibition in Queens, NYC, Phoenix, AZ, San Diego, CA, Las Cruces, NM, Rockford, IL, Portland, OR, Dallas, TX, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Cambridge, England, Melbourne, Australia, and other cities around the world. Our simultaneous group exhibitions have demonstrated solidarity among artists who identify as or with "Nasty Women" in the face of threats to roll back women’s rights, individual rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and immigrant rights. We view art as one method of resistance to such a roll back.
The exhibition will also serve as a fundraiser to support organizations who work to advance these rights. This will be our THIRD show! In 2019, because of generous donations by amazing artists, performers, volunteers, and concerned citizens, we raised over $6000 for Planned Parenthood Arizona, Inc.; One New Education; and World Bicycle Relief! We couldn't have been more thrilled with how things went. Here is a video recap of 2018's show.
This year, we proudly raise funds for RAICES, Emerge Arizona, and Missing and Murdered Dine Relatives. We hope you will consider donating art, attending the show, and/or supporting our causes.
Submissions can include any medium, including paintings, photos, drawings, collage, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, poetry, creative writing, essays, video/film, dance, and musical pieces. Submissions are open to anyone regardless of sex, gender, age, or affiliation, and will be approved as long as they are consistent with our mission and values.
